Grafel's earned his spot
First of all, I hope everybody was OK getting to and from this game. The weather outside was horrible with all the streets covered with ice. This should hopefully melt tomorrow, but it was really scary to drive in. Congrats to the 1,042 people getting there to watch the exciting first win of the season.
Weird thing about Lamar is that there's actually a guy named Lamar on their team. Could you imagine somebody named Niu? Or Victor E? Would be interesting. Or even naming your son Joe Novak?
Anyways, we barely beat these guys 65-63 with a buzzer-beater by consistent big man
Egan Grafel off of
Sean Smith's missed shot. Mr. Consistency got 10 pts and 8 boards.
Sean Logan scored a double double with 17 pts and 10 rebounds. Freshman
Jeremy Landers got the start and scored 14 pts, had 5 steals and 4 assists. More assists that's what we need.
We still stink though. Lamar shot 6 for 24 from the 3-pt line, which is horrible. Was that good D by us? I hope so. 6-12 free throws isn't gonna cut it come on guys. 23 turnovers? Not great.
EDIT: Oh yeah I forgot about the horrible officiating in this game. They were from the Southland conference and were calling the most ridiculous fouls on us. It just wasn't fair. Despite this, we still won the game, so whatever. Enough Southland teams.
Lets hope this win inspires confidence so we can pull some miracle off and beat Air Force on Tues.
